Census Bureau Event Encourages LGBT Participation in the U.S. Census

Census Bureau Event Encourages LGBT Participation in the U.S. Census

Community Crawl on March 20 starting at 5:00 p.m.

(More info will be posted as it becomes available...)

For the first time, the LGBT community has an opportunity to be counted in the U.S. Census in 2010. There are many advantages that an accurate count provides including, most importantly, funding for the LGBT nonprofit community. The Census Bureau in encouraging LGBT people to participate by conducting "Community Crawls" -- much like a pub crawl -- all over the West Coast on March 20. People in cities from San Diego to Boise will show support for LGBT and allied businesses on that day and you can participate right here in Seattle on Capitol Hill in the Pike and Pine corridor.

This event should generate quite a lot of media buzz. GSBA is co-sponsoring this event with other organizations like Equal Rights Washington (ERW). GSBA asks that our members help to make March 20 a great night promoting the census (just arriving in homes).

What does this mean, that LGBT identified folks should gather on Pine and Pike all day on 3/20?
Please explain the specific details of this event further, it is unclear. Thanks.
