SEATTLE, WA - Today, Congressman Jim McDermott (D-WA) issued the following statement on the "Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell" policy - the law that repealed this discriminatory policy went into effect today:
"The repeal of "Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell" ends nearly 100 years of legal discrimination in our military and honors the loyal service of thousands of patriotic Americans that serve our country with skill and dedication. Every American deserves respect and equal treatment under the law. I join the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community, and its allies, in celebration of the repeal of DADT."
