Legal Voice Celebrates 35 Years of Fighting for Women’s Rights and LGBT Equality!

By David Ward, Legal & Legislative Counsel for Legal Voice

Have you heard about Legal Voice?  In 1978, we were founded as the Northwest Women’s Law Center.  We envision a world where every woman and girl enjoys economic, social, and political equality – and our core mission has always included achieving LGBT equality.  We like to say we put the “L” in “LGBT.”

We work toward our vision by pursuing justice for all women and girls in the Northwest through ground-breaking litigation, legislative and policy advocacy, and educational tools to help people understand their legal rights.  Over the years, we’ve won landmark victories for LGBT rights in the courts and in the legislature – and we were proud to receive GSBA’s 2009 Nonprofit of the Year Award!

We’ll be kicking off our 35th Anniversary at our annual auction on Saturday, October 12, and we hope you can join us!  Tickets and info here.
